Understanding our mission
We aim to provide a firm foundation for each child in order for them to become a unique, independent, competent and confident learner to help each child the opportunity for a secure future. We believe every child deserves the best possible start in life with the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. We are committed to providing support for each child in our care by offering a stable and enabling environment whilst providing resources and learning opportunities that respects all children’s cultures and communities. We promote independence, through positive relationships with both key workers and other children. We recognise that every child is unique and will develop and learn at different rates and have different interests and needs. We offer stimulating learning opportunities, through play and exploration, active learning and creative and critical thinking and strive to provide a secure, safe, stimulating and happy environment for children.
We aim to achieve this through:
- The implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage and its core principles – A unique child, positive relationships, Enabling environments, learning and development
- Providing individual and unique care based on in the moment learning
- Working in line with the three core principles of the Characteristics of affecting learning (Coel) Playing and Exploring, Active Learning, Creating and thinking critically.
- Employing a team of staff with the combination of experience and qualifications to meet the correct staffing ratios at all times.
- for under two year olds – one practitioner to three children
- two to three year olds – one practitioner to four children
- three to five year olds – one practitioner to eight children

You may use Famly to track your child’s development, receive observation photographs, send and receive messages and notifications, and, most also, download and access materials that are meant to establish a synergy between nursery setting and at-home learning. While we take less photographs and observations with in-the-moment preparation, we actually spend more time with the children, getting to know what they like and how we can adjust our approach to fit the moment. We urge you to use the app at home to help us learn which activities your children love the most. You may do this on Famly by updating your own photographs and activities.
Our Rooms
Baby Room
At Little Robins our Baby Room is designed especially for our younger children with natural wooden low-level furniture and soft lighting, making it a relaxing and comfortable environment for very young children. Our Baby Room has a ratio of 1 member of staff for every 3 children. Read More

Pre-School
Throughout the day, there is a combination of focused adult led experiences, opportunities to practice letters and numbers and opportunities for the children to choose their own activities. Our Pre-school Room has a ratio of 1 member of staff for every 8 children. Read More
Food & Nutrition
We have an onsite Chef, trained and qualified to level 2 in food safety, all of our staff are regularly trained to maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. Our meals are freshly prepared at the nursery on a daily basis using fresh ingredients.
All our children are encouraged to make healthy choices when selecting foods to eat. Our practitioners at the nursery promote healthy eating and our Toddlers and Pre-School enjoy serving themselves (with support dependent on age and stage of development) to breakfast, lunch and tea. The children also often make their own sandwiches, which is all designed to promote independence. The children also use porcelain white jugs to pour their own milk and water as we are keen for children to use ‘real’ utensils rather than plastic.
We recognise the importance of a well balanced diet for young children, providing a varied menu, expertly prepared by our chef. Children’s individual needs, including religious, cultural or medical, dietary requirements, are catered for.
Breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea is served, with a light snack mid-morning and late afternoon.
